Internship Spotlight 1/16/26 - Katy
Katy, a dedicated member of the PHS Class of 2027, is already taking impressive steps toward her long-term goal of working for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). This semester, Katy has been completing an internship with the Euclid Police Department—an experience that has challenged her, inspired her, and pushed her well beyond her comfort zone.
Throughout her time with the EPD, Katy has gained firsthand exposure to many aspects of law enforcement. She has spent time in the detective bureau, observed work within narcotics, visited court, and even had the opportunity to experience the gun range. These varied experiences have shown her that there are many different pathways that can lead to a future career with HSI, each requiring dedication, resilience, and a willingness to grow.
Katy is also beginning to understand the physical demands of the field and the level of preparation required to succeed. Her internship has strengthened not only her knowledge, but also her confidence—so much so that she is excited to share her journey with a new audience. This semester, local 8th graders will have the chance to learn about Katy’s internship experience and the career path she hopes to pursue.
Driven, curious, and committed to her goals, Katy is already proving that the path to a career in federal service starts with taking the first brave steps.
