Internship Spotlight 2/12/26
After an incredible summer journalism program in Washington, D.C., Nola was eager to keep her momentum going—and her internship with the Mentor Channel has been the perfect next step. Nola has already distinguished herself through her creativity, initiative, and passion for storytelling.
In her role, Nola has been interviewing new local businesses such as Lash and Brow and Hannah’s Harbor, creating engaging stories that highlight their contributions to the Mentor community. She is also producing features on some of Mentor’s cultural gems, including the Wildwood Cultural Center, helping to showcase the rich resources available to residents.
Nola’s experience goes far beyond writing and interviewing. She is gaining valuable technical skills behind the camera as well. Recently, she was invited to help with camera work at the city’s Tree Lighting event, where she used green-screen techniques to ensure the camera was perfectly set up to capture the holiday lights.
Whether she’s interviewing, writing, or working behind the lens, Nola is committed to telling meaningful stories that strengthen and celebrate the community. As she applies to college, she plans to continue exploring her passion for journalism and nonprofit work. The future looks bright for Nola—and we can’t wait to see where her creativity takes her.
