Power of the Pen Finalist
7th Grader, Anwita, participated in the State Power of the Pen Tournament at Ashland University on May 18, 2026. She wrote for three rounds of 35 minutes each, a complete short story on a prompt that she received the moment she was to start writing. She received such high marks that she earned a finalist nod which only went to the top 50 writers of the competition where she had to write a complete story in 30 minutes.
Anwita has spent months working on her craft, writing creatively each night, and this hard work has paid off. Over 2,200 students in grades 7 and 8 participated in Power of the Pen District competitions and 50% of writers qualified for Regionals. Anwita, who placed 8th at Regionals, was in the top 20% of students invited to attend the State Tournament. Congratulations!
