Dr. Betty Jo Malchesky, Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Betty Jo Malchesky, Assistant Superintendent, taught in Perry Local Schools in 1993-1996, leaving the district at that time for administrative and leadership experience. Dr. Malchesky returned to Perry in 2011 and has strong experience in the following areas:
- Curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Formative Instructional Practices (FIP)
- Using data visualizations to monitor progress
- Grant writing with $3.8 million grant funds awarded to Perry Local Schools
- Ohio Improvement Process (OIP)
- Innovation Lab Network, Ohio President
- Standards-based learning and reporting
- Mastery Learning and Performance Assessment
- Accessing community resources and partnerships with schools
- Professional development
- Building culture and relationships
Dr. Malchesky has presented at local, state, and national conferences and has served the Ohio Department of Education with content review of State assessments as well as ORC (Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Science, and Reading). Her career has included teaching, principalship, gifted education director, curriculum-specialist and federal programs.
She received her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2007. Her Dissertation was a longitudinal case study of computer-based reading intervention and its impact on reading comprehension as measured by Ohio Assessments. Today, her study and research is focused on culture - empowering students and adults to design the critical thinking opportunities, innovation, and leadership skills for the community (and world) we envision.
