Community
The Perry school district has received national attention for award-winning academic programs and educational facilities. Community support is exceptionally strong. A unique "community educational village" links all the schools together with enclosed walkways. State of the art technology keeps students up to date and prepared for their future careers. A community fitness center and Goodwin Theater are included within the complex.
Perry remains a close-knit community in spite of the growth of housing and development. A growing population will help support a variety of businesses looking to locate in the community. Cities close by are Cleveland, Akron, Mentor, and Ashtabula.
An attraction that draws people to Perry are the many nurseries that dot the landscape. Fresh produce, plants, and flowers can be found at the retail nurseries of Perry. The area is nationally known as a "nursery capital". Perry has good soil and a climate moderated by Lake Erie.
Some of Perry's most beautiful attributes include the shores of Lake Erie at its norther boundary and the Grand River on the south. The lake provides opportunity for boating, swimming, jet-skiing, and fishing. A YMCA outdoor facility along the Grand River features an outdoor pool and other recreational activities. There is a boat launch ramp at Perry Twp. park and marinas located at Geneva State Park and along the Grand River in Fairport Harbor. Large beaches are located at Fairport and Headlands Beach State Park.
The community provides the best of both worlds — country living with access to the best of facilities for cultural outlets, fitness opportunity, technology, and education. Locally, there are adult education classes and all-day child care services. The Goodwin Theater is used for performances other than for the school such as the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. With a short drive, the activities of a great American city, Cleveland, are available. Opportunities include professional sports, museums, theater and stage productions, zoo, Great Lakes Science Center, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
