Perry Foundation Loan Application
Perry Foundation loans are available to all students who are enrolled, attend, or have graduated from the Perry Local Schools who are or will be full-time students (12 credits or more) pursuing post secondary education, including two-year, four-year or technical school. The loan application requires that you submit the attached documents to the Trustees of the Perry Foundation by June 15th of each year.
Scholarship List
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship is designed to significantly strengthen Ohio’s competitiveness within STEM disciplines and STEM education.
The Ohio Department of Higher Education provides funding to Ohio’s colleges and universities to support students in innovative academic programs. Participating universities and colleges award scholarships to students desiring a certificate, associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or graduate degree in eligible STEM and STEM education fields.
All scholarship decisions are made by the individual participating colleges and universities. To learn how to apply for a Choose Ohio First Scholarship, visit the Participating Institutions page and reach out to the listed contact.
Designated Choose Ohio First programs are:
- Integrated with regional economies
- Meeting statewide educational needs
- Facilitating the completion of baccalaureate degrees in a cost-effective manner
- Recruiting underrepresented STEM student groups including women and students of color
Choose Ohio First funds higher education and business collaborations that will have the most impact on Ohio’s position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, and information technology. These collaborations will ultimately produce substantive improvements to the pipeline of STEM graduates and STEM educators in Ohio. Choose Ohio First is part of a strategic effort to encourage Ohio’s economic strength by ensuring a ready workforce for STEM-related industries.
The Lake County Retired Teachers Association is offering a scholarship to any senior enrolled in a Lake County public school planning to major in education. Academic achievement as well as involvement in community and extra-curricular activities will be considered. The scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award. The amount of the scholarship varies from year to year. All application materials will be submitted via email and must include:
- Copy of current transcript
- Attendance Data
- Two Letters of Recommendation including at least one from a classroom teacher of the applicant (emailed directly to LCRTA Scholarship chair or guidance counselor)
- Copy of college Letter of Acceptance

The Antalovich Family Scholarship was founded in 2002 by the John Antalovich family. He and his family established this scholarship anonymously in an effort to alleviate some of the start-up costs for freshmen as they begin their post-secondary education. Recipients of this scholarship will be a Perry High School senior pursuing a four (4) year degree in engineering or the humanities. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
The Myka Gray & Kayleigh O’Brien “Bound Angels” Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Myka Gray and Kayleigh O’Brien who are best friends and graduated from Perry High School in 2016. The scholarship was established to reward students in the Perry Service-Learning program who represent hard work, dedication, integrity, and whole-hearted compassion as this is how Myka and Kayleigh lived their lives. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
Brandy Siegel left us all too soon on September 4th, 2018. Anyone who knew her in our school and community could attest to her radiant and contagious personality. Born and raised in Perry, it was always her dream to come back and teach at her alumni. This dream came true and she was able to spend her final years teaching Math and Social Studies at Perry Middle School. She was passionate about working with children and actively involved with Camp Sue Osborn, along with coaching volleyball, track, Science Olympiad, and working as the assistant athletic director in the middle school. The stories and memories shared from her students continue to remind us just how special she was and the huge impact she had on anyone she worked with. She will be forever in our hearts. To honor Miss Siegel, her scholarship will award $1,000 a senior student who will be pursuing a job in service areas such as education, nursing, law enforcement, EMT, etc.

In 1986, the Perry High school class of 1951 made its mark on Pirate history. The 27 alumni, men and women living throughout the United States, had long been a group defined by contributions to their alma mater. In 1986, they established themselves as true philanthropists by creating a gift that would give in perpetuity. Each year the scholarship is presented to one or more students who have made a genuine commitment to self-improvement and to bettering the community. GIFT ’51 emphasizes disciplines for a successful lifetime. The acronym G.I.F.T. stands for four principles, setting Goals, seeking Intelligence, having Faith, and always Trying. The ’51 represents the Perry alumni who made the scholarship possible. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
The Hazel Family Scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Bob and Ethel Hazel, long time Perry residents. Bob and Ethel were active in church, local government, and charitable organizations throughout their adult lives in Perry. They displayed a strong commitment to the education of their 6 children, all of whom graduated from Perry High School. They were also committed to supporting their children and grandchildren’s secondary educations, and instilled in them the importance of lifelong learning and service to their communities and country. This scholarship was established in 2002 to honor Perry High School mathematics teacher, Linda Spencer. Mrs. Spencer’s dedication to teaching and enthusiasm for mathematics inspired countless students to challenge themselves in their pursuit of knowledge and skills in mathematics. To perpetuate the lifetime personal excellence exhibited by Linda Spencer, her family offers this scholarship as an encouragement to talented mathematics students who plan to continue their education in the field of mathematics, science, engineering, or mathematics education. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
This scholarship was established in 2002 in memory of Patty (Poling) Yankie. Patty was a 1982 graduate of Perry High School whose life was cut short by a tragic automobile accident in 1997. The youngest of three children, she enjoyed being a member of the Girl Scouts and 4-H in her younger years. Not having any children of her own, she put all her loving efforts into her six nephews and one niece, making Christmas with all the children a most cherished memory. Children were a big part of her holiday and birthday enjoyment, which is why the Robert Poling Family is offering this scholarship for those wishing to make a child’s life better in any way possible. The Phillip Haskell Sciences/Environmental Sciences Scholarship was established in 2007 by the Perry Township Trustees and was renamed in 2014 in honor of Phillip Haskell in appreciation for his many years of public service to the Perry Township Trustees. The scholarship funds are raised through a community wide recycling program through the Abitibi Paper Retriever recycling program. Preference will be given to Perry students who are pursuing a career in any science or Environmental Science field and who have shown an interest and been involved in science related activities during high school. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
The Political Sciences/Social Services Scholarship was established in 2007 by the Perry Township Trustees. The scholarship funds are raised through a community wide recycling program. Preference will be given to Perry students who are pursuing a career in Political Science or Social Services and who have shown a commitment to community service and exhibited outstanding citizenship through their service and/or participation in community activities. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
Fields of Learning (www.fieldsoflearning.org) is pleased to announce the launch of our 2025 Scholarship Program. We began in 2004 with a single award, and have expanded our program to offer five $1000 scholarships for 2025.
Our scholarships are awarded based on an essay contest where students from high schools submit essays of between 700 and 1500 words with the theme being “Something I learned related to high school football.” It is not in any way limited to football players, and we have had almost equal numbers of boys and girls submit essays and win awards over the years. The web site provides complete instructions including how the essays will be judged and where to send emails or hard copies. The deadline for submitting essays this year is March 31, 2025.
The Americans of Italian Heritage Charities, Inc. is pleased to announce our scholarship program available to student residents of Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga, and Ashtabula counties of Ohio. Four scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each will be awarded this year.
At least one parent of the applicant must be of Italian descent and the student applicant must be either a graduating high school senior or enrolled full-time for the 2024-2025 academic year at an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university, vocational or technical institution. The scholarship committee is seeking to award well-rounded students who can demonstrate their dedication and commitment to continuing their education and who are in financial need. The Perry Classroom Teachers’ Association Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded each year to two senior Perry High School students. The recipients are chosen by a collection of teachers from all three Perry Local School district schools. Money for these scholarships comes from contributions from all of the paying union members of the Perry Classroom Teachers’ Association. The students that are chosen for this award are the two seniors best embody what Perry teachers are looking for from students in their classrooms. Students who have exhibited effort, a positive attitude, and good behavior throughout their entire careers in our district. Deadline: April 3, 2025. Submit all materials to the high school counseling office.
The Perry Women's League is pleased to offer a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 [nonrenewable] to two Perry High School seniors meeting the following criteria:
• Senior at Perry High School
• Seeking post-secondary education
• Completion of application by April 16, 2024
• Display of exemplary citizenship through works of community service throughout high school years

The JFSA (Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland) offers scholarships and grants to Cleveland area students who are degree-seeking and attending four-year accredited college programs in the classroom. The Phillip J. Garofalo Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Perry High School and Harvey High School. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative gpa. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, community involvement, and financial need. Deadline: April 7, 2025.
The mission of the Association of Specialists in Aging is to strengthen the professionalism among those who have chosen to promote the well-being of older persons in Lake and surrounding counties by increasing the awareness of aging as a specialized field and by facilitating change for the improvement of life of older persons. The deadline for application is March 24, 2025.
Quota Club of Lake County has a $1,000.00 available each year to award a student for his/her college education. This $1,000 is offered through the Janice Southworth Memorial Scholarship fund. It is available to any high school student of Lake County who plans to pursue a study in the fields of speech, hearing, visual impairment, physical therapy, social services, elementary or secondary education, or education in an ancillary field with children. Deadline: April 1, 2025.
The Lake County Fair Board is pleased to announce the sponsorship of a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. This is the twenty-fifth year for this scholarship, and it is open to any graduating high school senior residing in Lake County. This student must be a member of a Lake County 4-H organization or a member of the Lake County Junior Fair Board and must provide the required paperwork as stated in the application packet. Deadline: April 2, 2025.
The Ohio Association of Public School employees (OAPSE) and our union members are the non-teaching staff at Perry Local Schools. The union consists of bus operators, bus attendants, educational associates, custodians, food service, media associates, secretaries, maintenance, and mechanics in our who are employed in our district. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors whose parent or grandparent is a union member of the Oapse Local 367. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
The Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) is please to offer the OAPSE Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all graduatin seniors who plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college. Deadline: April 3, 2025.
Ann Fickenscher taught art at Perry High School for 34 years. Ann passed away in 2023. This scholarship has been established to honor Ann’s memory and her dedication to teaching. The scholarship amount is $1,000 - $2,500 depending on the number of applicants.
Applications will be based on the following criteria:
- High school senior entering college in the fall.
- Students who are pursuing a major in art, fine arts, or art education are eligible to apply. Education majors may be considered.
- Students demonstrate financial need.

The Ian Minnick Memorial Scholarship offers a $1000 renewable award (up to four years depending on the type of school the recipient attends) to a talented musician or other creative artist who is furthering their education in a part or full time capacity.
Ian's Legacy Foundation was established in 2019 in loving memory of Ian Minnick. Ian was a 2015 graduate of Riverside High School and attended Kent State University studying Digital Media Production, focusing on sound.

We are proud to offer our Porter Scholarship annually to a high school senior demonstrating the skills and desire to enter our profession. Each year’s winner receives a $1,000 per year college scholarship — $4,000 over four years.Graduating high school seniors from schools in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties are eligible. They must be planning to enter the field of journalism or communications. The scholarship is named for Philip W. Porter, a long-time Plain Dealer editor who was one of the co-founders of the Cleveland SPJ Chapter.
Incomplete application forms or applications without complete documentation will not be considered for the scholarship.

The Perry High School Alumni Association Scholarship was established in 2005 to recognize graduating seniors who have exhibited commitment and loyalty to their schools and/or communities. Applicants must have plans to be a full-time student (12 or more credit hours) pursuing post-secondary education, including four-year, two-year, or technical school programs. Applicants may be a Perry High School graduate or applicants may be a graduate of another school if their parent or grandparent was a Perry High School graduate. Winners will be notified in May. Deadline: April 1, 2025.
The Lake Geauga USBC is a non-profit, volunteer organization that represents the national, United States Bowling Congress in Arlington, Texas. We help local bowling leagues with rules, award presentation, and conduct local bowling tournaments for our 2,500 plus members in Lake, and Geauga counties. Again this year, the Lake Geauga USBC is continuing its Scholarship Program for Student Athletes in the Lake and Geauga counties. We are offering a one time, Scholarship of up to $1000.00 for the selected Student Athletes. We hold an annual golf tournament in July to raise money for this program. Deadline: April 5, 2025.
We are pleased to announce that the 2025 Lake County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is now available. The amount of the scholarship is determined by the number of acceptable qualifying applications. Applications must be submitted online. Deadline: March 31, 2025.
Applicant Eligibility
- Parents/guardians or applicant MUST be a Lake County Farm Bureau member. Membership must be maintained and paid at the time of scholarship announcement and awarding of monies at Annual Meeting in the fall.
- Applicants must prove enrollment or letter of admission to a minimum two year program or institution of higher learning.
- Applicants must be considered a full-time student, with a renewable award for pursuing undergraduate as well as graduate studies.
- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average 2.5
Scholarship Rules and Regulations
- This is a renewable scholarship with the amount to be determined by the number of acceptable qualifying applications.
- Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the advisory committee and ranked on a scoring system that considers academic excellence, community involvement, and responses to essay questions. The scoring system places a higher emphasis on applicants with agricultural involvement, and Farm Bureau involvement and membership history. The decision of the advisory committee shall be final.
- The award will be payable in the fall after the attendee and/or a representative attend the county Annual Meeting. The Farm Bureau membership must be in good standing at both the time of application and at payout of monies. The Lake County Farm Bureau reserves the right to withhold scholarship monies if the required qualifications are not met.
- Recipient and/or a representative MUST attend the county Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in the fall
- Any scholarship monies not claimed within one (1) year will be forfeited.
No handwritten applications will be accepted.
The PTA Scholarship is available to graduating seniors. Applicants need to be a PTA member no later than Feb. 28. Applications are due by March 23, 2025.

Mel Walker was a lifelong resident of Madison, Ohio. He worked at Madison Golf and Country Club for over 45 years. In high school, he was involved in varsity sports earning letters in football and golf. His father was a coach in Perry. Mel truly had a love for high school sports and the area community.
Upon his sudden death in the summer of 2019, his co-workers, friends, and family decided to have a memorial scholarship fundraising golf outing at the Club. The first one was then held in the fall of 2019. A committee was set up for the purpose of managing the funds raised and awarding scholarships to high school seniors that had earned a varsity letter and most exemplifies Mel's love of high school sports and the local community.
Three scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis, one to a single senior attending each of the following schools, Madison High School, Perry High School, and Geneva High School. Candidates must plan to further their education at a college, university, technical, or trade school following their graduation.
To be considered to receive one of the scholarships, you will fill out one of the attached applications and write an essay of 500 words or less on why you feel you deserve this award based on your contribution to your school's athletics and community. Applications will be distributed to the high school guidance counselors by Mar 20th• Completed applications must be returned to the counselors by April 3, 2025. The scholarships will then be announced and awarded at the school's Scholarship Awards Assembly.
Candidates must have earned at least one varsity letter in a school-sanctioned sport and maintained a 3.0 grade point average. Other school and community activities may also be considered in choosing award winners. Use extra sheets of paper if necessary.
Lake-Geauga United Head Start, Inc. is pleased to announce a merit-based, competitive scholarship program for former Head Start students graduating in June 2025 and continuing their education.
ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES:
- Previous participation in a Head Start program
- Acceptance in an institution or program of higher learning, i.e. college, vocationalschool, or trade school

The Perry Pirate Athletic Boosters are offering two $1,000 scholarships for graduating seniors.
- Maximum one page essay “What has being a student athlete meant to you?”

The NAACP of Lake County is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship for graduating seniors.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be residing in Lake County and attending a Lake County High School.
- Applicant must currently be a High School Senior in good academic standing and possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 (C+) on a 4.0 system.
- Applicant must be a minority student: African American, Asian American, American Indian, Latino/Hispanic, Pacific Islander or a member of the Lake County Youth Chapter.
- Scholarship recipients are asked to volunteer time at least one NAACP event. Our hope is that you will see the value in this work and become a permanent active member
- Scholarship recipients also receive a 1-year paid membership to the Lake County NAACP. This is a great opportunity to become involved in your community and learn how to work toward real and positive changes to establish true justice and equity.
AWARD: $1,000
If you are selected to receive a scholarship, your award will be sent to your College/University’s financial aid office and credited to your account after matriculation in October. Deadline: April 19, 2025.
The Ruth Hanes Scholarship is available to high school seniors who are either members of the LCE Federal Credit Union themselves or have an immediate family member who is a member. Membership eligibility is broad - anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Ashtabula, Geauga, or Lake County can join, as well as individuals with a family member who is already a member. The application deadline for this scholarship is March 31, 2025.
The Northeast CU Outreach Alliance Scholarship is open to all graduating seniors and post-secondary students who belong to a credit union in Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, or Lorain County. Applicants must be credit union members in good standing. The application deadline for this scholarship is April 20, 2025.
Five $2,000.00 AADE scholarships are being offered for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Appalachian Chapter of the AADE is utilizing these scholarships to encourage college bound high school seniors to consider a career in the oil and gas industry. This scholarship is being limited to Petroleum Engineering majors; engineering majors or Energy Industry related majors.
These scholarships will be awarded based on:
- academic excellence
- financial need
- extenuating circumstances
If you are awarded one of these five $2,000.00 scholarships; upon completion of your freshman year, you may become eligible to apply for one of three (3) planned $2000 annual scholarships which may be in effect for the remaining three (3) years of college. The total potential AADE aid could amount to $7,000 over 4 years.
To qualify the candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Graduate from High School with a GPA or GPR of 3.5 or above
- Scored at least a composite 27 on the ACT, or scored at least a minimum 600 in Math and 600 in Critical Reading on the SAT.
- Be enrolled in an accredited college in Pennsylvania, Ohio or West Virginia
- Be a citizen of the United States of America
- Submit a fully completed and signed AADE Scholarship Application.
